FOREWORDCitizen Arab is a product of its time and events.
The Palestinian occupation and oppression has made one thing clear of the reality faced in the world today: there is a war out there, not just one fought on the ground, but with ones and zeros of information. At stake? The control of information from production, reporting, all the way through delivery through the media.
The latter is the most significant element as it shapes public opinion in turn shaping public and foreign policy.
At issue, are people's thoughts and reflections on the world around them, in other words the hearts of millions of people, from what they see and hear.
It is clear that a point has been reached today able to hide occupation, terror in all its form, rape and genocide even able to make small countries snub large world powers.
A scary moment as we have recognized the vulnerability of humans and the ease to brain-feed masses by the display of distorted pictures and facts.
We shall rise to the occasion, as journalists, students, as people and face such injustice, inaccuracy and unfairness and to begin awakening awareness.
"preaching fairness as its most important goal with bias as its most important obstacle."
CitizenArab As Arabs stand today, this could only mean a our inactivity in the global arena with Arab struggles failing and a rival group is merrily shifting blame and winning the media war.Does bias, in the end, matter? It does, and not just because the truth is always important. For one thing, it is clear that inaccurate reporting is influencing international diplomatic efforts. A distorted picture of events is helping to produce correspondingly distorted policies, particularly in the USA.Double-Standard policy is a biased policy.
It must be noted, that the coming change is a long-term solution, that will take a long-term to establish and take hold.
